How It All Began

Pie Day all started when I did a Charity Subathon to celebrate getting Twitch partner in 2020. One of the redemption goals was to pie myself in the face. I forget if I just didn't want to be wasteful, or if I forgot to buy a pie. But at the last minute I threw some jam on a plate and pied my face.

This went kind of unnoticed at first, but some keen viewers noticed it wasn't actually a pie. When my friend Crunchy Island was streaming, this fact was popularized to the community, and I had to explain myself.

After agreeing with the community, it was my duty to make it up to them. And so we did a celebratory stream in 2021 where I made a virtual pie in the game "Cooking Simulator".

Cooking Simulator Pie Day

I walked to King Kullen, bought a pumpkin pie, and covered it in whipped cream. This was the pie I would use to pie myself in the face for the very first Pie Day.

The pie I made in Cooking Simulator was paper thin, not really resembling a pie at all, but I tried my best, you know?

During the stream, the Twitch Speedrunner named "Pie" stopped by the stream. They come and check in every so often on certain Pie Days.

The First Time I made a Pie in Real Life

Watch Full VOD

In 2022, I had the brilliant idea to continue the tradition by making a pie in real life. It was chaos; food flew everywhere, my camera equipment was an iPhone that was being screen captured on my broadcasting software, I had forgotten to turn my notifications off, so I doxed myself multiple times, I cut myself (unintentionally) with the apple peeler, and the pie tasted like a mess. But the community loved it.

I also thought it would be fun to find pie in video games while the pie baked. We made a kiwi, apple, blueberry, pear(?), dragonfruit mix with custom made dough.

This is also where I infamously dropped blueberries all over the floor and picked them up by hand instead of using a broom, because I did not have a broom.

For failing to make a pie that met the standards of the community, I pied myself in the face. And so, through this one mistake, I had unknowingly locked myself into a contract to try and make a pie on every Pie Day.

Mini Pies and Cupcakes

In 2023 I decided to up my game. I got a fake fancy kitchen background to hide my New Jersey apartment air conditioning unit and 90's looking kitchen to see if anyone would notice. I ordered a giant pie costume and dressed up like a pie.

I decided this year Twitch chat could decide the ingredient amounts for the pie dough. Instead of video games, we made cupcakes while the pie baked. I bought a fresh mixing machine and new mixing bowls.

Flour flew everywhere, but everything went fairly well. Well... except we completely messed up the dough because we put the wrong amount of flour and baking powder ratio in because of Twitch chat. So the dough tasted really bad.

We made 3 mini pies: a Blueberry Pie, a Grape Pie, and an Apple Pie. We also decorated a few cupcakes! Once again I pied myself in the face.

Community Ingredients

Watch Full VOD

In 2024, I was like, hey it'd be so cool if I gathered videos from people who come around to Pie Day and ask them to send me a video of them telling me an ingredient to add. But I didn't ask everyone in time, and so I literally only asked Koramora, who graciously gave me a clip of her popping a confetti cannon that she had to clean up. To this day, I still feel bad about that lol.

I did end up using it though. She told me to also use confetti, to which I sprayed fake money everywhere.

This year I asked the community to send in ingredients or actions to do for Pie Day. I really do want to bring this back one day, because it was so fun. Chat asked me to smash things with a rock, use edible glitter, pears instead of apples, soy sauce pies, etc. I also bought a juicer that someone requested to juice a pomegranate.

The camera got more and more tilted throughout the stream, because the camera tripod broke.

We made more mini pies this year, but they were all very cursed because well... the community made them:

  • Glitter Pear Pie
  • Aussie Meat Pie
  • Passion Fruit Cinnamon "Wonder" Pie (the wonder is glitter)
  • Pecan Flower Pie (real edible flowers placed into it)

The stream ended with me using a smoke machine and pieing myself in the face while I sung the final countdown. I was muted of course, so no one could hear me sing. Overall, one of the best Pie Days.

The Carnival Recipe

Watch Full VOD

In 2025, Kuriie, who used to work in a Carnie kitchen, gave me a recipe for a pie that was handwritten and stuck into a cookbook for 20 years. The recipe came from someone named Xena who was the head chef of a carnival.

I thought it'd be really fun to make a recipe that wasn't found online, and see how good a blueberry pie could be, because blueberries have been incorporated in every Pie Day, and I've always dropped them on the floor.

I lost my chef hat and outfit this year, so I walked to Party City and tried to see if I could get one... It was closed forever. So I just taped a piece of paper on a cut out party hat string, called it a chef hat, and baked a blueberry pie.

Except, I misread how much alcohol I was supposed to put in and put double the amount that I was supposed to. So my pie came out as a bit watery.

At the same time, I thought it'd be fun to make a "Baja Blast" pie. This was before there was an official Baja Blast pie. I saw someone on Reddit had made one, and personally reached out and asked questions on how to make it. To my surprise, they responded. And I made it.

It didn't turn out quite right though, because I needed more time to boil the Baja Blast. Also I used a mini pie maker, and that thing did not make a very good pie. It also produced a lot of smoke? I don't recommend it, because the pie came out undercooked.

And so, that's where we are at now.
