In 2025, Kuriie, who used to work in a Carnie kitchen, gave me a recipe for a pie that was handwritten and stuck into a cookbook for 20 years. The recipe came from someone named Xena who was the head chef of a carnival.
I thought it'd be really fun to make a recipe that wasn't found online, and see how good a blueberry pie could be, because blueberries have been incorporated in every Pie Day, and I've always dropped them on the floor.
I lost my chef hat and outfit this year, so I walked to Party City and tried to see if I could get one... It was closed forever. So I just taped a piece of paper on a cut out party hat string, called it a chef hat, and baked a blueberry pie.
Except, I misread how much alcohol I was supposed to put in and put double the amount that I was supposed to. So my pie came out as a bit watery.
At the same time, I thought it'd be fun to make a "Baja Blast" pie. This was before there was an official Baja Blast pie. I saw someone on Reddit had made one, and personally reached out and asked questions on how to make it. To my surprise, they responded. And I made it.
It didn't turn out quite right though, because I needed more time to boil the Baja Blast. Also I used a mini pie maker, and that thing did not make a very good pie. It also produced a lot of smoke? I don't recommend it, because the pie came out undercooked.
And so, that's where we are at now.
